Assistant Financial Controller

We work in partnership and collaboration with our customers, to deliver major built environment and critical national infrastructure projects across the UK. Our specialist engineering and construction teams bring multi-sector innovation and technical skill – from building and highways, to large-scale water networks and treatment plants.

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Financial Controller to work out of our Head Office in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. The successful candidate will support the finance team to ensure the delivery of business objectives through the provision and interpretation of key management information. 

What you’ll be doing day to day
  • Overseeing the production of monthly management accounts and general ledger reconciliations
  • Preparing monthly reporting pack and Group consolidation
  • Ensuring that accurate and timely financial information is provided to support our commercial and operational staff across the business
  • Working closely with the Group Financial Controller to produce budgets and forecasts
  • Carrying out financial analysis, reviewing complex data and providing detailed and meaningful reports for non-finance and finance audiences
  • Maintaining and developing treasury and cash management processes
  • Promoting good financial management, accountability, efficiency and value for money
  • Preparing accounts in readiness for year-end; including accruals, prepayments, salary reconciliations and audit schedules
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual report and year end accounts
  • Appraising financial controls / processes and liaising with the internal audit function
  • Undertaking other tasks as requested by the Chief Financial Officer and Group Financial Controller to assist in the smooth running of the department

The experience we're looking for in a candidate

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 3+ years Post Qualification Experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Track record in leading the production of management accounts, forecasts, financial plans and budgets
  • Technically astute, with a solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards and able to demonstrate excellent core accounting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
