Today marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2020. The week is an annual campaign to raise awareness to the challenges of addressing mental health, as well as the actions that we can take to improve it.
Themes this year include kindness and speaking your mind, with the week running from 18 – 24 May. The focus on kindness and reaching out to support others is a response to the coronavirus outbreak, which is having a huge impact on people’s mental health.
Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any time.
At nmcn, we are fully committed to protecting the physical and mental health of our colleagues. Addressing Mental Health in the workplace sits within the “ Our People” priority of our Positive Impact Plan 2025 and our purpose to have a positive impact on everything we touch.
We continue to tackle the stigma around mental health within our industry, as we continue to raise awareness and improve mental health and wellbeing for our people and our communities.
Last year we announced a three-year charity partnership with Mind, which supports our commitment to improve mental wellbeing for our colleagues and our communities. We support Mind throughout the partnership by engaging colleagues and clients in a range of fundraising activities.
Within our business we will be promoting awareness of mental health by sharing a range of mental health resources and learning from colleague experiences. Given the challenges we are currently facing as a society we must continue our work to break the stigma associated with mental health and encourage greater understanding.
