nmcn secures Water Industry Contractor of the Year award

29th May 2019

We are delighted to announce that we have received the ‘Water Industry Contractor of the Year’ award for the second consecutive year at the Water Industry Awards.

Andy Langman, Fraser Ashley, Julie Smith, John Homer and Stuart Proud receive the award

The awards ceremony took place on Monday 20th May at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, with over 550 professionals from water companies, regulators and contractors in attendance.

The Water Industry Awards celebrate and reward outstanding achievement, innovation and best practice across the UK water industry. Organised by the people behind the leading business media brands in UK water, Water & Wastewater Treatment, WET News, and linked event Utility Week Live, the awards have become a must- attend event in the water sector’s calendar, and are highly prized within the industry.

The awards were judged in a two-stage process by a panel of leading independent experts, including: Prof. John Bridgeman (University of Bradford), Nick Ellins (Energy & Utility Skills), Paul Hickey (Environment Agency), Chris Hoggart (Natural England), Martyn Hopkinson (Future Water Association), Steve Kaye (UKWIR), Karen Light (WRc), Lloyd Martin (British Water), Nicci Russell (Waterwise), Tony Smith (Consumer Council for Water), Dr. Ana Soares (Cranfield University) and Ceris Van de Vyver (Isle Utilities).

We came out victors because of our impressive strides forward as a company over the last year; this includes our rebrand, our significant framework success with South West Water and Severn Trent and our overall financial and operational performance.

We were recognised for being a long-standing, multi-disciplined design and build contractor, with self-delivery on most of our operations, through our own manufacturing and offsite build factories – enhanced through the use of 3D printing. We also received recognition for our evolving emphasis on our colleagues and customers.

Andy Langman, managing director, said: “To be recognised for the second-year running is a major credit to our people and is testament to the hard work, we all put in day in, day out. Our people really are at the heart of everything we do and are the reason behind our success.

WWT Editor James Brockett said: “Congratulations to nmcn for winning the Water Industry Contractor of the Year award for the second year in a row. The judges commented that the company has shown great evidence of innovation and best practice in 2018; they were also impressed that the company is growing quickly and described nmcn as a breath of fresh air for the industry. The award is well deserved recognition for the progress nmcn has made in the water industry in the last couple of years.”
