nmcn’s building business unit is set to commence work on a second student accommodation development in Sheffield – a new £8.5m project being developed by Victoria Hall Management Ltd.This is the fourth project we have worked on together and follows the announcement earlier this year of a £24m student development, currently underway on the adjacent site.
Both are located on Denby Street, near to Sheffield United Football Club’s ground. The latest site will house an 11-storey building, almost twice the height of its sister development. With 190 en-suite bedrooms, it will feature 40 apartment clusters, each including a kitchen and living area.
Nick Banks, operations director of nmcn’s building business unit said: “Work is underway to excavate and prep the site, ready for building works to commence. This was previously an area of wasteland and we are looking forward to transforming it over the next 14 months ready for Sheffield’s thriving student community.
“It’s great to embark on our fourth major student accommodation contract with the team at Victoria Hall Management – stemming back to our first partnership in 2015.”
“Sheffield is a fantastic University city and has been on our radar for some time. We are delighted to add such a prestigious development to our ever-growing portfolio of sites throughout the UK. The scheme will be managed by Victoria Hall Management Ltd’s award winning student operating brand Host,” commented John Ripley, national operations director, Victoria Hall Management Ltd.”
Home to two universities – Sheffield Hallam and the University of Sheffield – the city has a combined student population of more than 50,000. nmcn is due to complete work on the first development in June 2018, ready for the new academic year. The newly commissioned project will run until Autumn 2018.
