Our Highways team recently held their annual ‘Bridge Building Day’ with over 100 first year engineering students at Nottingham Trent University (NTU).
Organised by our Site Manager, Jon Hudson, the day is hugely popular with civil engineering students and gives them an insight into what life is like on the ground in construction.
They were tasked with an assortment of team building challenges, which included constructing a bridge out of scaffolding utilising drawings produced by nmcn.
The challenge not only bought the students together but allowed them to see how their course can be applied to the real world, helping them to develop much needed practical skills that are essential for a career in the construction industry.
The students were divided into teams in their pre-prepared ‘bubbles’ and covid-19 precautions observed throughout the exercise.
As in previous years, the day was a huge success and built on our relationship with NTU and their graduates. Following the event in previous years, NTU’s top engineering graduates have subsequently looked to nmcn to secure placements or employment following their degree.
