In partnership with Stagfield Group we recently presented Reach Learning Disability with a cheque for £5,000, fulfilling their pledge towards the 2019 Big Give Christmas Challenge.
Clients, staff and volunteers at Reach’s Flower Pod centre were delighted to welcome our Richard Bowen and Jenna Frudd with Kevin Hard, Managing Director from Stagfield, our partner on a local housing development in Southwell for 38 homes called The Rise. As always at Flower Pod, the visitors found a hive of activity. In one room Pete and local volunteer Linda were making bug hotels whilst in the neighbouring classroom a ‘Positive Relationships’ course led by Reach tutor Sam was in full swing, with several local volunteers providing encouragement. The visitors also enjoyed a tour of the beautiful Flower Pod site, finding out about how the community supports Reach to create a wonderful environment where local people and people with learning disabilities work and learn together.
Steve Shatwell, Reach Chief Executive, said: “We are very grateful to receive this significant donation from Stagfield Group and nmcn PLC. Funds raised through the 2019 Big Give will help people with learning disabilities to participate more fully in everyday community life. We saw great examples of this at Flower Pod today with people having fun gaining the skills and confidence they need to stay safe in the community. Products like Pete’s Bug Hotels help create income but also enable people to feel they are contributing something and so help improve self-esteem.”
Richard Bowen from nmcn says “It is great to see the amazing work that Reach are doing with local adults who have learning disabilities. nmcn plc are looking forward to seeing the positive impact our contribution will have on Reach and all those who benefit from the charities work.”
Kevin Hard from Stagfield says “The Reach team have created a unique space and environment for individuals and the community to engage. It’s inspiring to be engaged in the positive and forward thinking activities that Steve is leading.“
