What attracted you to nmcn?
nmcn’s excellent reputation in the construction industry was a massive attraction. Also, nmcn is involved in sectors like building, civil engineering, transport and water, which meant that I will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects.
How would you describe the culture and working environment at nmcn?
I believe there is a real sense of team work, integrity with drive and passion. What I like the most is how much people genuinely care about delivering the best product and providing the best customer experience for clients.
What development opportunities are there at nmcn?
It is a rapidly growing business with opportunities coming fast for people. There are opportunities for everyone whether your starting your career or an experienced professional. People really care and spend time to develop your skills and assist you in your goals.
What attracted you to a career in construction?
To be able to transform an architects dream in to a reality, to be able to give the client a building that will be long lasting, fit for purpose and efficient is what attracted me to a career in construction especially to be site based.
What do you find most interesting about your job?
The diversity in my role is phenomenal which makes every second interesting. The most interesting thing for me is when we are working as a part of team to overcome challenges and obstacles trying to achieve the best possible outcome. It is very challenging at times but when the plan comes out right then it makes it worthwhile. You also get to work alongside so many different people and it makes the whole experience more interesting.
What has been your highlight since you started working here?
To be able to work on a massive £18m project in a city I grew up in (Nottingham) has been the highlight so far. It’s something I could have only dreamt of.
How does nmcn support you in achieving your career ambitions/aspirations?
Line managers are great and are willing to listen to you and want to help you fulfil your goals and aspirations whether it’s via training courses or chartership or any skills you need to become better at your daily tasks.
What is the most important thing you have learnt since working at nmcn?
I believe the most important thing I have learnt at nmcn is to being able to trust people even more so because the quality of people I am working with is outstanding. The business also cares immensely about its people which is very refreshing.
Would you recommend a career with nmcn?
Most definitely, it really cares about it’s people, clients and most importantly health and safety of everyone which is crucial in the industry we work in.
